I prefer to keep mine in a non-user specific location and then fix up the registry.
If all else fails, change these values to full paths (like C:\yada\yada whatever). This is where things will typically fall on the floor. Somewhere along the way (it might have been as recent as 8.5) they defaulted to not using the full path and instead just using from "Track Icons" on as a relative path.assuming that you haven't moved the. bmp file somewhere in the machine's directory structure. which contains a list of CLSID's that are used to marry the soft synth that belongs to the CLSID to the. HKCU\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\\SynthIcons HKLM\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\\User Data\Sonar Producer\\SynthIcons It's probably different under Vista and Win7.) (This gets copied from the "All Users" account.at least, that's the way it worked in XP. I think this defaults to C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Cakewalk\Track Icons or something like that. There's the "Track Icons" directory that stores the actual track icon. I can't say I've ever seen that icon so where does it come from and where does Sonar pick it up from? In my case the matrix view is totally screwed but I'm not adverse to fixing things if I know where to look. It's more about the fundamentals of the programme being bust for some reason - not really about the icon.
